PPK: “the National Public Investment System is done”

The president announced the current investment system will be replaced by a new control mechanism for public projects (El Presidente anunció que el actul Sistema Nacional de Inversión Pública - SNIP, será reemplazado por un nuevo mecanismo de control para proyectos públicos).

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK) announced yesterday morning that the current National Public Investment System (SNIP) will be replaced by a new control mechanism for public projects.
“Many projects are stopped today by something called the National Public Investment System [SNIP]…To be clear, SNIP is done,” said PPK during the opening ceremony of the XXI International Exhibition of Construction Sector (Excon) 2016.
“Of course we will replace it with a good control system that promotes sensible control,” he added.
Also, PPK explained that the new mechanism will be a planning system decentralized for public investment in all regions of the country, with financial control of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
On the other hand, PPK said his government will not tolerate corruption. He further argued that it is important to find out who these “moles” are who infiltrate the state and removed them from office.
“I think these are people who still believe that we are in the same system from 16 years ago, but things change and we have to evolve,'œ concluded the president.
